Workboxes - I love them!!!

Just last week, I ran across the Workbox phenomenon, based on this idea by Sue Patrick. I read all 37 pages of a thread about it here on a homeschooling forum, and was hooked! The basic idea is that you have shelves with open plastic bins labeled 1-12, and every day you fill them up with things for your child to do during the course of your homeschool. As they complete each box, they peel the Velcro number off it and put it on a chart, and move on to the next. There is a very visual progress throughout the day and sense of accomplishment, as well as it providing routine and structure. It also ensures that the "fun" projects and subjects have a place in the day. I have adapted this idea for how I think it will work for my family. I prefer drawers over shelves and open boxes, especially since this is sitting right in the middle of my living room. Greg's Crochet 2016

So this year I learned to crochet. Specifically "amigurumi" which is stuffed crochet figures and animals. I thought I'd put together a post detailing all the figures I made this year. First, I got a book on Star Wars crochet. I went through the book and made each character one by one: After that I bought some online patterns and made a Nintendo bouquet for Maria for Valentine's Day: Having felt like I figured things out, I started making some of my own figures rather than using other patterns. Losing Some Weight

Today I finished the 4th week of the Couch-to-5K running program and have lost around 18 pounds since the beginning of the year. I've made losing weight and getting in shape one of my highest priorities for the year, and for the first time in my life I've actually become serious about it. It all started earlier this year when Maria and I got hooked on watching "The Biggest Loser." Maria started watching the most current season and then we found older episodes online and went on a watching spree and burned through all 8 prior seasons and even started watching some of the international versions (currently watching Biggest Loser Australia.) I've been aware of "The Biggest Loser" for several years, but always believed it was a show where fat people learn how to get less fat. I had no idea until watching it that the people on the show come out physically transformed from morbidly obese to fit model physiques. I've always seen people dieting and losing...
