When we went to the Renaissance Festival a few weeks ago, the kids both purchased a wooden sword and shield. Spencer was disappointed that the ones that were painted were more expensive than the ones that were just wood color. He didn't think that he could paint his as good as the ones they were selling there. So I promised that I would paint them myself however they wanted them.
So we went and bought some craft paint and I have spent the past week painting the swords and shields. The paint wasn't that great so it took quite a few coats, but the results weren't too shabby.
The above is Colin with his "flame sword" and blue sapphire shield.
And here is Spencer's golden shield and silver sword. Unfortunately Spencer was suddenly feeling camera shy and wouldn't pose with them.
