Visiting The Curtis Family

On Saturday, August 4th we made plans to visit the Curtis family. Chad is my oldest friend from way back in 7th grade and we couldn't visit Utah without visiting his family.

Originally we were going to go to Thanksgiving Point with the Curtis family, but unfortunately-timed car trouble ruined our early afternoon rendezvous. The ignition on our van had worn out to the point it no longer recognized the key. We had to have it towed to a dealer who was able to replace the ignition that afternoon. So when that was done, we were able to go visit the Curtis family in the evening.

We went to visit Chad & Melodee Curtis, and their children, Gavin, Ariana, Dallin, and Sir Not-Yet-Appearing-In-These-Photos at their home in Riverton. (I apologize if the names are spelled wrong. Chad or Melodee feel free to post any corrections in the comments.)

Chad showed off his beautiful backyard which the kids especially enjoyed.

After visiting their home we all went out to eat and then back to my parents home to play our Wii. Maria discovered that Melodee also really enjoyed her new favorite author, Stephenie Meyer, and was anxiously awaiting the release of her new book, "Eclipse" the following Monday. So we made plans to hook up again that night so that Maria and Melodee could go attend a late-night book store release party.

The following Monday, we left the kids asleep at my parents' house and I joined Chad at his home for the evening to watch a movie while the women went out to play. Maria might post more about this, but here she is with Melodee at the "Eclipse" release party:

There they enjoyed many activities such as werewolf shooting:

Melodee ended up winning a costume contest as one of the book's characters as well as some prizes for other games and was placed up in the front of the line for the new book--in front of hundreds of people including those with pre-orders--where she allowed Maria to purchase her copy (as she had ordered her own copy elsewhere).

The two had a great evening and a chance for some bonding amid hundreds of squealing women while Chad and I enjoyed some male bonding over a violent action movie. It was great to see our long-time friends, and amazing how even though we haven't seen each other for several years we can still get along so easily with each other.

Still more Utah activity recaps to come...

Greg, the spellings all look right! Except that it would need to be "Miss" Not-Yet-Appearing-In-These-Photos... it's a Girl!

You know, I told him that . . . but he said it was funnier that way! (;
