Christmas Newsletter 2008

Below is the text of our annual Christmas Newsletter update for 2008. Click the image above for the original pdf file that contained it.

Well, we made it through another year. We did a lot of stuff and went through a lot of cats.

Greg and Maria celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary this year with a trip to Las Vegas where they saw several shows, avoided gambling, and wore out their feet.

Greg is still working at Lockheed Martin. He was also called to be our Ward’s Wolf Den Leader, taking over for Maria mid-year. He recorded an album of his piano songs at the end of last year and then transcribed them into a book of sheet music. He is really happy because he finally got his big screen TV this year.

Maria is extremely busy with her new calling as Stake Primary 1st Counselor. She attended Wood Badge this summer and got fired up with enthusiasm about Scouting. She served shortly as the Cub Scout Committee Chair and is now a Unit Commissioner and Trainer. She has been successfully homeschooling the boys this year since late summer. She went off sugar in mid-October, and despite Halloween & Christmas temptations, she’s been doing well and has lost 16 pounds in two months.

Colin turned 8 this year. He was baptized by his father and joined the Cub Scouts and is well on his way to earning his Wolf badge. He got his appendix out at the end of May and had to miss the last week of school, but he got lots of sympathy presents to make up for it. His favorite things this year are video games, Nerf guns and spy gadgets.

Spencer is 6, but sure seems a lot older. His reading skills have taken off well beyond his age level and he can spend hours reading on his own if we let him. He loves going through all our comic collections such as Calvin & Hobbes, Foxtrot, and Baby Blues. He loves Legos and built an entire 972 piece Lego castle almost entirely by himself.

Both Colin and Spencer are learning the piano when their dad can remember to give them a piano lesson.

Love,
The Whiteheads
Greg, Maria, Colin & Spencer

edited to add: For anyone who reads this after getting my email - Sorry about the double email - I don't know why Outlook did that! I also apologize for all the email addresses at the top; I usually blind copy them and that's what I intended to do, but I guess I wasn't awake enough. ):

My favorite part is the cool big head characters! Way to go on the no sugar thing too- that's so hard to do in our culture.
