Hello New Friend: Mazda 5 Minivan (2009-)

Out with the old and in with the new. Right?

With the imminent death of our Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan, we needed a new car. So Maria did some researching and contacted a few vendors. I took the Friday before Presidents' Day weekend off so we could go do some test driving and hopefully find a nice holiday sale priced vehicle to bring home.

The first vehicle we drove was the Mazda 5. It was the right price but our only hesitation before trying it out was that it was smaller than our previous van. After testing it out, we decided that the loss of space, while sad, was more than made up for in price and gas mileage. So we brought it home with us.

Here are a couple shots of the interior. We actually had them add leather seats after trying the deluxe version of the vehicle and finding the seats more comfortable than the default seen in the pictures below.

We've had good experience with Mazda in the past. This is the third generation Mazda we've owned (Well, that Maria has owned, since her first Mazda was the one that got wrecked a few weeks before we got married.) They even gave us a Mazda owner discount which was nice. Our other vehicle is a Mazda 626 which is still going strong after we bought it used 11 years ago.

We got a 10 years warranty on the vehicle so hopefully this will get us through most of the boys' high school. At that point we may not even need a van any more.

Welcome to the family, Mazda 5. Although we need to find a name for you since our other car is already called the Mazda.

Wahoo! Happy Birthday to you! Okay, so it may not have been your birthday, only some dead pres., but that fits the bill for me!
Thats the car we were planning on getting too! We love our Mazdas we have had and it is time to upgrade to a bigger car for me but we probably wont get it until next year when we pay off Shawns car. Did you get a black one? Thats the color I want!

It's actually a dark metallic blue. It's admittedly difficult to tell from the picture above.

Wow! Enjoy your beautiful new car! We always name our cars too. You could call it "Five". Just a thought. :-)

We have a 2007 Mazda Five. We love Mazdas. We have a Protege also. The Five is a great car. I love that it is both an automatic and a manual at the same time. It works great in snow. Yours looks so much cleaner than ours does now. Sigh....

This is the first time I have seen your blog. It is quite nice. I like the work box idea. I may have to adapt it for our family.

We're still loving it . . . though I have to admit it's not quite as clean and shiny anymore. (: There are times we miss the extra space of our other van, but by and large this is perfect for us!
