Today was an unusually mild day for Texas in August - a perfect day to go to the Fort Worth Zoo!
Here's our traditional picture by the waterfall:
What happens if you tell young boys to lean towards each other like they actually like each other:
Colin being goofy. Nothing unusual here. (:
This was a harpy eagle that was complaining loudly.
Spencer looking at the eagle.
Colin writing down details about the eagle for his Zoo Adventure book we're doing for science.
We saw a live animal show - at one point, they asked for volunteers. Spencer got called up and got to help hold a python!
It was cute watching him. Despite this picture, most of the time he was just really curious looking up and down it, even ducking down to look under it.
There was a really funny part where the guy talked about how pythons can unhinge their jaw and swallow things three times the size of their heads. He had the boys on stage open their mouths as wide as they could, and told them to pretend the large ball he had was a gumball, and to try to swallow it. Apparently, none of them were pythons. (:
Because of the nice weather, and the animal show, we ended up staying much longer at the zoo than normal. We even met another homeschooling family there! It was a fun field trip.
