Now that Jaden's a year old, I'm switching from monthly updates to whenever-I-feel-like-them updates. He's 13 and a half months old right now, and he has been growing and changing SO much!
One of his recent developments that I'm especially enjoying is that he likes to put things BACK. Hooray! It will be a little while before I can say "clean up your mess," but it's a step in the right direction! (:
Last week we took Jaden out to get his fourth haircut - though this is the first time an electric razor was used (which he did *not* care for). His hair grows like crazy, so it was time for a "big boy" cut.
Jaden loves to climb anything and everything. He is constantly climbing up the elliptical to get on the fireplace. Recently he managed to climb all the way up our entertainment center in front of our big-screen TV before the boys noticed and got him down. Just today he managed to climb onto the couch, and after jumping for a while, he grabbed a remote and settled down like he was ready to watch some TV!
He likes to stand on his tippytoes and peek over the edges of tables and counters to see what he can reach and get into. He's gotten into all sorts of creams and lotions, managed to open a bottle of chewable vitamins, has unrolled toilet paper, and especially adores markers. Here he is after an encounter with a black marker that was apparently tasty.
He loves opening cabinets, and frequently goes to sit in our dirty clothes cabinet. It's his own little hidey hole!
Jaden has started to draw a little, though we still have to keep an eye on him since he alternates between drawing and tasting the crayons. (: Here's a picture of a couple of his recent efforts.
He loves the magnadoodle, too!
His vocabulary has been just exploding - he says new words every day. The ones we hear the most often are "thank you," "uh-oh," "mo" (for "more"), "hi," and of course "mama" and "dada." He says "kitty" and "cracker" and "ball" and "bottle" (that one sounds more like "baba"). He folds his arms for most prayers and says "men" at the end. He's starting to do more sign language, though "more" is still his favorite sign. He chatters constantly, and it's fun to start hearing more and more recognizable words amidst the babble.
Jaden loves to be in the thick of whatever we're doing - cleaning, exercising, reading, going outside - he wants to be a part of it! Here he is "helping" us sweep the kitchen and load the dishwasher.
Jaden loves to dance, and anytime music is on with any sort of a beat, he stops what he's doing, and bobs up and down. He even dances to the blender and washing machine sometimes! He's figured out how to turn on the music on my iPhone, and holds it up like he's having a conversation while dancing to the music. He has also started trying to jump, though he hasn't really managed to get his feet off the ground yet. Here are a couple of videos to finish things off:
